Mixing Denim and Suede

It's been quite a while since my last post but with graduating from college in May and a super hectic and stressful summer overall, it's been difficult to find the time to shoot blog pictures. But I'm back and hope to be more regular with my posts from now onwards.

Today's post is all about mixing different textures. I love the concept of wearing contrasting textures together because it really adds more dimension to a look. I decided to pair a denim dress with suede flats and a suede bag. I feel like this look is great for the transition from summer to fall. The colors of the shoes and bag are more neutral and suitable for fall but then the blue color of the denim is on the brighter side and gives the whole 'I'm not ready to let go of summer yet' vibe.

My flats are from Zara and I picked them up while I was in India because they were on sale and basically who doesn't need a good pair of pointy toe flats? My dress and sunglasses are from Forever 21. I've recently noticed that Forever 21 has really picked up its game in terms of quality compared to past years and a lot of their pieces are great dupes for higher end products so you can be stylish without making a dent in your bank account.

Navy Pant Suit

With the Democratic primary being tomorrow here in Kentucky, I decided to do a Hillary Clinton-inspired pant suit for this post. Hillary Clinton's pant suits are just about as famous as she is and she's rocked one in pretty much every shade of the rainbow.

The pant suit is also known as a power suit and I totally get why because every time I wear one, I feel like I can conquer anything that comes my way. While I believe a good dress and some lipstick are definitely confidence boosters, the pant suit just has a place of its own in making you feel powerful. For this post, I went with a navy blazer and matching pants to play it safe because you can't go wrong with navy, am I right? After wearing this outfit and feeling like a total boss in it, I definitely want to try a brighter color. If you've never tried wearing a pant suit, I highly suggest you give it a go!

Zig Zag Dress + Superstars

It's been a while since my last post...oops. This semester has been superrrr busy for me and I'm honestly just so glad that I only have one week of madness left before it's finally summer vacation.

So, moving on to more exciting things...aka this outfit. Please excuse the fact that I'm squinting in half the pictures. It was really sunny and my end-of-the-semester stressed self forgot to pack sunglasses for this shoot.

Anyways, I am so obsessed with this dress from Zara! It's super comfy yet trendy at the same time which is a combination that is pretty hard to come by. Pictures don't do justice to how beautiful the colors really are. The detailing and structure of this dress allow it to work really well with sneakers so you could pair it with a pair of Adidas kicks like I did or it would even look great with some black Nike sneakers. It's basically perfect to pull off the sporty luxe look.

On to the shoes, I am in L-O-V-E with these Adidas Superstars! They make even the most simple outfit look put together. I'm a minimalist when it comes to fashion so the fact that I can just throw on a t-shirt and jeans and wear these shoes yet still look like I made an effort to get ready is the best part. The fact that they're comfortable while also being trendy is what really sealed the deal for me. In terms of sizing, they run realllllyyy big so make sure to order at least a full size down if you get them.

Plaid & Prada

So first of all, I decided to change my blog name to something a bit more personal. I chose Ciao Ravenna because my name is a city in Italy and "ciao" means "hello" and goodbye" in Italian and the name just stuck in my head after I thought of it.

Now, moving on to the actual post...this comfy outfit that I have had on repeat this Fall. The shirt and jeans are both from Topshop and were my first purchases from the brand...I have to say I'm in love! I'm kind of obsessed with their 'Leigh' jeans (so so so comfortable) now and already ordered another pair *oops*. I'm loving the lace-up flats trend because they make the simplest outfit look chic. The flats I'm wearing are from Old Navy and they look exactly like the Topshop lace-ups that every blogger seems to have. These Old Navy lace-ups are really comfortable for a pair of flats.
